We carry a selection of top name brand appliances. We try our best to stock popular models, to service customer needs efficiently. We pride ourselves in offering an outstanding, personalized customer service experience. Our products are competitively priced. We provide packages of appliances and services to our customers in order to take care of all their needs. Our sales associates work together to provide the best service to our clients on a non sales commission basis.

Electrical Service

Licensed electricians that provide a full-service Electrical Department. Trouble shooting, Renovations – large or small, New builds, In floor heating connections, upgrade or new install of Lighting, Log cabin wiring, Hydro service, Panel or Service Upgrades, Car chargers, Generators & Generator connections, whole Home Surge Protectors, Connections of Hot Tubs and Pools. We stock and sell multiple parts for Electrical needs.

Appliance Service & Parts

We pride ourselves in providing service for products we sell and want to be considered our customers’ first choice for service, whether they purchased the product with us, or at another retailer. Our trained service technicians are qualified to provide service across a wide range of brands and products. We provide both in-home and in-shop service depending on individual customer needs. We provide installation service, whether the product was purchased at Speers Electric or another retailer. Our technicians have many years of experience and are continually training. Speers Electric has a fully stocked parts department, with multiple items in-stock for the many brands we sell. Parts not in stock can generally be ordered within a few business days with a product model number. Our trained technicians help our office associates to answer service-related and technical questions five days a week during regular business hours.

Installation Services

 Our qualified installation team are able to install the full line of products we sell. Our installation services include the following: Dishwasher installation, Water lines for Fridges, Wall Ovens, Microwaves, Kitchen Venting, Electric Cooktops, Washers, Dryers and Dryer Venting. Delivery Service

Speers Electric is proud of our polite drivers, careful and prompt delivery service. Our delivery service includes un-crating, setup, and removal of old appliances. We understand that the sale is not final until each individual appliance is delivered, installed professionally and carefully in each customer’s home.

Our History

In 1945 Franklin and Dorothy Speers arrived in Elora and set up their business in downtown Elora, in the location now occupied by Ostic Insurance. They operated a radio/TV, small appliance sales and service store. Shortly after, Franklin started wiring houses and farms, as hydro was introduced to the area. As the need for major appliances grew Franklin and Dorothy expanded across the street to the location formerly operated as The Desert Rose, now The Evelyn. They raised a family of seven children and eventually outgrew the premises.

In 1969, Jim joined the business and a new location was purchased, on the south side of Elora.  A new building was built to accommodate the inventory stored in 5 different locations around town.  New installations and service were added for chicken and turkey barns and dairy operations. Well pumps and related service were also added to the mix.

In 1972, another expansion occurred and a furniture department was added.  Furniture sales were brisk for about 11 years. Then the economy and other logistics caused us to close the furniture department in 1983. Its space became a rental premise, as it is today.

As the years passed, and our staff started to age and were looking at retirement (some of whom were with us for 35, 45 or 48 years) Jim’s son, Kyle took over the business in 2015.

Over the years, Hot tub installation and service, as well as plumbing (not offering plumbing service at this time), have also been added to our vast array of services.  To this day the team at Speers Electric pride themselves in the customer service, honesty and integrity that Franklin and Dorothy started Speers Electric with. We look forward to continuing the service tradition for many years to come.
